Xtreme Metric Cycles started out like most other motorcycle parts businesses; fill a need. When the Honda VTX1800 first came out, there were few accessories available, with no custom parts outside of wheels. Many owners that first year started cutting the swingarm to fit a 240 rear tire after Denny Berg created the Cobra VTX bike in 2001. Everyone said the 250 would not fit without an offset; they were soon proved different.
During Biketoberfest 2002 the VTReX debuted with a 250 rear tire, custom rear fender, forward controls, and a few other custom parts. The response was incredible, and metric custom mania ensued. Xtreme Metric Cycles Incorporated was formed in March 2003 to offer custom one off and small production run parts. Most of these parts have been for the VTX 1300 and 1800, but include other metric bikes as well. If anyone has done custom parts and prototyping, you will know the hours of research and development time needed to create a part, and then the time it requires to fabricate that part and meet your specifications. XMC is meticulous about a quality product at an affordable price; getting that to the masses takes time.
XMC does not have a huge staff with an extensive R&D department. We have talented motorcycle riders and enthusiasts, coupled with skilled tradesman and engineers to develop parts and solve problems which generate a high quality part that will last. We produce our parts here in the USA, supporting American Businesses across the country. Everything can be made cheaper overseas; lower labor costs, cheaper materials, and cheaper processes. I am sure you have seen many a part start to rust, check or crack after only a short amount of time. That is not the part we want to make. We want a part that will last and that we can be proud to stand behind. If you feel the cost of a part (anybodies part or accessory) is too high, you have the right to not purchase it and try to find it cheaper somewhere else. However, there is reason we bought a Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha, or another motorcycle rather than a low cost import (I am thinking Yugo, remember those?)... Its because of value. Some businesses are in a hurry to bring product to market or ramp up volume, we take our time to do it right so we stay in it for the long haul.
XMC is not a parts reseller, we do not want to be your one stop shop for everything. We want to create and offer unique custom parts and services that nobody else does. We want to support those who want to create a unique ride that is an expression of themselves, not just another face in the crowd.
I would like to thank the customers who have supported us over the years and stuck with us, and I also would like to thank the business owners, professionals, and entrepreneurs who have helped us along the way. Through their collective effort, they have help us solve the challenges we face.
